iQ-ROUTER 5.1 now with improved security and forwarding reliability
We are pleased to announce that iQ-ROUTER – our solution for image compression, teleradiology and remote workflow management – is now available in a new version. iQ-ROUTER 5.1 stands out with a number of newly implemented features that focus on stronger cybersecurity, more reliable data transfer and greater workflow flexibility. What’s new in iQ-ROUTER 5.1?
More security and data protection.
- Support of additional and more secure ciphers
In the advanced TLS/SSL settings, you now have access to a broader range of modern cipher suites for secure DICOM communication.
- AE-title-specific TLS certificates
Administrators can now link a specific TLS certificate to each AE title, which allows them to verify the identity of individual DICOM nodes more precisely. Certificate-related log messages now also include the affected AE title, making it easier to identify which connection caused a mismatch.
- Updated plugins for newer versions
Updated plugins improve compatibility with newer system component versions and simplify future upgrades.
- Cybersecurity and system integrity enhancements
Several third-party components and security-relevant libraries were updated to improve cybersecurity and system integrity.
More transfer reliability.
- Optimized retry intervals in forwarding module
The forwarding settings now include a configurable retry policy. In addition to a static time, you can now also select a flexible, multi-stage retry schedule for improved transfer reliability. This smarter retry pattern ensures a faster recovery after short outages.
- Fallback destinations
It is now possible to configure a backup destination for each forwarding rule. In case the primary destination cannot be reached, iQ-ROUTER can automatically forward studies to a configured backup destination.
More workflow flexibility.
- Multiple reconciliation rules (Reconciliation Plugin)
The Reconciliation Plugin now supports multiple independent reconciliation rules for more flexible workflows across different modalities and departments.

iQ-ROUTER users with a valid Maintenance and Security Plan (MSP) can upgrade to the new version free of charge. Please note that a new license is required when upgrading from previous versions.
Good to know: Starting from version 5.1, iQ-ROUTER will not be available as BASIC, PRO or PREMIUM edition anymore. Instead, licensing is flexible based on the number of connected DICOM nodes. This way, iQ-ROUTER can be tailored to the size of any imaging environment – from smaller imaging centers to large hospital networks.
